Competitive Call of Duty is officially switching from Xbox to PlayStation

Professional Call of Duty players might want to brush up on their skills with the PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4.

For years now, the competitive Call of Duty scene has relied on the Xbox as the platform of choice. That goes for press events, too. Going to play Call of Duty at an Activision sponsored event? You’d probably be playing it on an Xbox One.

That’s officially changing with Black Ops III.

Activision and Treyarch have announced that, moving forward, competitive Call of Duty will be played on the PlayStation 4. David Vonderhaar, Studio Design Director at Treyarch, clearly stated that “PlayStation is the new home of Call of Duty eSports.”

That’s a pretty big paradim shift, and it might just signal what’s going on with the world of console gaming today. Everything is coming up Millhou–ahem, PlayStation.
