Apple Watch watchOS 2 beta 5 released to developers

Apple Watch watchOS 2-3

Apple just released watchOS 2 beta 5 to developers, the latest build of the new Apple Watch software that should be available later this fall. Apple watchOS 2, which we brought you a hands-on with back when it was first released as a beta, will offer new watch faces, support for developers to create native application, speedier performance and more.

It’s also going to offer other new features, like a bedside mode for viewing the time — a feature already offered and loved on the Moto 360 — and unique watchfaces that show timelapse events in certain locations. Also, you’ll be able to use a new Time Travel mode that will allow you to view what’s coming up 72 hours in advance, and move through that time quickly. The Apple Watch will also allow third-party developers to create custom Complications, which are the small little bits available on each watch face.

It’s not immediately clear what’s int he latest beta 5 release of watchOS 2, but we suspect Apple is beginning to add some final polish ahead of launch. We’ll let you know if we spot anything of note.
