Tesla Model 3 potentially spotted in new video

Tesla’s Model 3 won’t actually launch for a few more years, but the company is already hard at work on the affordable electric car. Now we may be getting a very early look at the vehicle.

A recent episode of 60 Minutes appears to reveal the new Tesla model during a clip focused on the upcoming Model X SUV. A few screenshots shared to the Tesla Motors Club forum reveal a hidden car with a lopsided design. SlashGear argues that this could be the Model 3.

Tesla is apparently testing multiple designs at once for the new car. That means creating a vehicle with two different styles at once to see which works better. In the image above one side looks a lot taller than the other, suggesting the company is still deciding on some pretty big factors.

Based on earlier reports the Model 3 could costs as little as $35,000. That’s a lot cheaper than the Model S, which starts at $69,000. The upcoming vehicle could also be about 20 percent smaller than the Model S.

We can’t wait to see the Model 3 officially unveiled, though, like we said, it’s not expected to launch until 2017 at the earliest. In the meantime we’re looking forward to the Model X, which is set to arrive in the very near future.
