Sony Pictures roadmap includes Jumanji, Uncharted, and Bad Boys

Sony hasn’t had the best box office performance this year, with the most embarrassing titles being Pixels, which currently has an 18-percent on Rotten Tomatoes. But the studio is already looking to bounce back, revealing some new titles it has planned for the next few years, including not one, but two new Bad Boys movies.

The company’s lineup is as diverse as it is puzzling. The Resident Evil movies haven’t exactly been good, yet another one is on the way (with Ali Larter returning as Jill). Meanwhile, Jumanji has been scheduled for a Christmas Day release in 2016. The beloved film from 1995 about a magical board game is perfect the way it is, using a wonderful blend of practical effects and imagination to tell a fun story. Will this next film be a sequel? Or a remake? The movie certainly left things wide open for a sequel, so let’s go with that.

Meanwhile, two new Bad Boys films have been announced, which hopefully means we’ll see Martin Lawrence and Will Smith back together. Neither has committed to appearing in another Bad Boys movie, but maybe having a target date will encourage them to sign on the dotted line.

Other notable films on the list include Ghostbusters, which moves up a week, Uncharted and The Magnificent Seven. The others, at least based on the titles, sound like a mix of drama, fantasy and kid’s movies. These come in addition to projects Sony has already announced, such as the next standalone Spider-Man film (7/28/17), The Equalizer 2, Dan Brown’s Inferno and more.
