As promised, Microsoft’s gamescom conference brought us some new, meaningful content for Quantum Break, including some brand new gameplay footage.
Questions had been popping up here and there about the game’s accompanying TV show and whether it would continue to be developed when Microsoft had already scuttled so many other TV shows. Developer Remedy Studios confirmed that the show is moving ahead and unveiled the big stars of the show as well.
Shawn Ashmore, best known as Iceman in the X-Men films, will play protagonist Jack Joyce. The primary villain, Paul Serene, will be portrayed by Aiden Gillen – Little Finger in Game of Thrones. The cast also features Dominic Monaghan (Lost, Lord of the Rings), and Lance Reddick (Fringe).
One thing sharp-eyed fans may have noticed is that Jack Joyce has had a facelift since last we met. My guess is that the original guy was a placeholder – a generic action dude meant to stand in until an actor was cast for the story. Here’s a look at the change:
We saw some gameplay as well, which is mixed into the trailer above. There wasn’t a whole lot new there, but it’s confirmation that the game is on track and looking great. Remedy has a knack for third person action games, especially with time manipulation elements, and they’re putting the last 15 years of knowledge into this game.
Quantum Break releases for Xbox One on April 5, 2016.
