Galaxy Note 5 all but confirmed for Aug. 13 event

We already assumed Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked event would focus on the Galaxy Note 5 (along with the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus), but now we know for sure. The company shared a small update on Tuesday, essentially confirming plans to reveal the rumored phablet next week.

In an online post reminding us to attend the event, Samsung uses the not-so-subtle wordplay, “Note the date.” That’s already a pretty strong indication of what’s coming. The fact that the exact same words were used to tease the Galaxy Note 4 last year only confirms our suspicions.

The Galaxy Note 5 already feels like a given. After all, Samsung has been unveiling a new premium phablet every summer for years now. The real question is whether we’ll also see a curved smartphone at the same event. The invitation’s design seems to suggest a device with curved edges, though it’s tough to say for sure if we’ll see it or not.

Based on the constant leaks we’ve seen over the past few weeks, we’re pretty sure Samsung will unveil two new phones at its next event. Thankfully we’re just over a week away from the big show, so it won’t be long now before we get an official look at whatever the company has been working on.
