21.5-inch 4K iMac expected with El Capitan debut

iMac with Retina 5K-10

New code found inside the latest beta of OS X 10.11 El Capitan again suggests that Apple will launch a brand new 21.5-inch iMac with a sharper 4K display.

The code was first spotted by French news outlet Consomac and specifically references support for a computer with a native resolution of 4096 x 2304. As 9to5Mac notes, the photo of the iMac next to the computer suggests that this is going to be applied to a new computer and, likely, the rumored 4K iMac we’ve been expecting and that earlier beta releases have also pointed to. The computer will likely exist in Apple’s iMac family below its more expensive 5K 27-inch iMac (pictured above.)

We suspect Apple will introduce its new 4K iMac and, perhaps a refresh of its 5K 27-inch iMac, later this fall when it releases the final version of OS X 10.11 El Capitan. The company typically likes to show off new hardware that takes full advantage of its latest software, after all.
