New Need for Speed footage hits this week, playable at gamescom

After some pretty impressive looking reveals earlier this summer, we’ll get a longer look at Need for Speed this week, while some lucky European gamers will get their hands on the title directly.

Electronic Arts is holding its gamescom press conference on Wednesday, Aug. 5, during which we’ll get to see some more footage of the game. The demo we saw at E3 was impressive, but pretty limited. It looked good enough that I’m still not quite ready to accept that it’s real console footage.

Thankfully, Electronic Arts will also have a playable demo on the gamescom show floor this week. While we won’t be there, reports should start rolling in pretty quickly from those at the convention as to whether it stacks up.

If you want to see the conference live, it airs on Aug. 5 at 9:30 a.m. Central European Summer Time – about 3:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. If you’re in America, maybe get some coffee ready. Need for Speed itself, meanwhile, is set to release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Nov. 3.
