Xbox’s August Games with Gold includes Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Metro 2033

For this month’s Games with Gold, Xbox fans have something to look forward to – three of the four games are retail-sized.

For Xbox One gamers, the games included as part of the Games with Gold promotion are Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and How to Survive: Storm Warning EditionMetal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is, like its recent inclusion on PlayStation Plus, well timed to get us ready for September’s release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. How to Survive is a zombie survival game and it looks like it might be pretty fun. The former is available all month, while the latter is available starting August 16.

On the Xbox 360 side, we have the Metro series, Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. This pair of games, based on some popular Russian science fiction novels, was lauded for the interesting world and character interactions on top of some pretty good shooting and survival gameplay. Both are out on current-gen consoles as well, but you can’t beat free. And of course with Xbox One backwards compatibility being a future potential thing, these are two more games that might be playable on your Xbox One in the near to far future. Metro 2033 goes live August 1, and Metro: Last Light is up starting August 16.

Either way, this is a nice change from some of the games we’ve seen recently, like Pool Nation. These are some meaty titles well worth the time.
