Bethesda literally can’t make anymore Pip-Boys

by Eric Frederiksen | July 28, 2015

You know how many Pip-Boys were made for Fallout 4 collectors editions? All of them. They made all of the Pip-Boys. Normally that would be hyperbole, but in this case it’s the literal truth.

“We made a s***load of Pip-Boys, and we went back and made more, and went back and made more,” said Bethesda’s Marketing VP Pete Hines in an interview with GameSpot. “I keep seeing stuff about ‘Oh, you only did a few thousand.’ No, we did a ton of these things. I think we did more of these things than we did for any collector’s edition we’ve ever done. Ever.”

The Pip-Boy replicas are currently being manufactured, but Bethesda has taken up as much time as the factories have available. “We reached a point where we’d go back to the factories and they were like, ‘guys, this is it, sorry, this is as long as we can run the lines and as many of them as we can make.”

The Fallout 4: Pip-Boy Edition is climbing up past $400 and $500 on eBay right now, where it was retailing for just $120. It includes a wearable Pip-Boy in addition to other bonuses.

Fallout 4, with or without the Pip-Boy, releases on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 10.
