Street Fighter V servers still not working, Capcom will extend beta test

Street Fighter V was supposed to make its grand public debut this weekend through an exciting beta test, but all that went up in a flaming shoryuken when the servers failed to work for a vast majority of players.

Hey! That’s the purpose of a beta test, though, am I right? Best to learn about these errors before people drop $60 a pop on the game.

In the meantime, I’ve probably gotten far more entertainment by cruising forums and comments sections reading the complaints aimed at Capcom for messing up the beta like it was a Battlefield launch or something. Just a thought to those complaining out there: you didn’t pay for it!

Capcom has been taking the test in stride and has reacted as it should, apologizing for the inconvenience of your “on the house” experience and promising to extend the beta beyond its normal window.

The beta test was originally scheduled to run from July 23 until July 27, but Capcom has not mentioned how long or when the servers would be stable enough to be up and running. Hopefully it will be soon. I’m just dying to give you some early thoughts, but that could be a rough call if the servers don’t get up and running before I fly back to the States.

We’ll let you know when that happens. Stay tuned!
