Pokkén Tournament being tested by Dave & Buster’s, “more optimistic” than Tekken

The Western world is still sitting by and wondering if Bandai Namco’s Pokémon fighting game, Pokkén Tournament, will be brought to shores beyond Japan. Nothing has been officially confirmed about a release, but the Dave & Buster’s chain has announced plans that it will at least be testing the game.

Speaking on a Reddit AMA, Dave & Buster’s Senior Vice President of Entertainment & Game Strategy Kevin Bachus has some pretty promising words for Pokkén Tournament when asked by a fan about the possibilities of localization.

“Yes. We will be testing Pokkén. Candidly both Namco and I are more optimistic about that title and our typical guests than Tekken.”

More optimistic than Tekken? Wow, that’s quite a lot of praise, isn’t it? That sounds like a quote the gaming crowd can run with and wildly speculate on. I’ll take it!

Pokkén Tournament is currently available in Japan at select arcades. No confirmation of a home port or Western release has been announced yet.
