Project CARS is, according to developer Slightly Mad Studios, “simply too much” for the Wii U.
The UK developer had been working on the long-promised Wii U port of their simulation racer. With other platforms flush with racing titles, Wii U owners were looking forward to having one to play. Unfortunately it’s not to be.
The Wii U edition of the game “was always a maybe,” according to an interview with studio head Ian Bell by Nintendo Life, but the team did do real work on it before giving up. Bell says the team is “awaiting an announcement from Nintendo on new hardware. As of now, Project CARS is simply too much for the Wii U.”
Project CARS is out currently on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Like the Wii U version, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions were dropped from development in favor of the newer consoles.
