Apple’s long-running “Back to School” promotion, which gives students and teachers the opportunity to buy Macs and iOS devices at a discount, is yet to be confirmed for 2015. But according to an internal video from retail chief Angela Ahrendts, employees will get “a little bit more insight” this week.
Apple has traditionally launched its Back to School promotions in early July, giving those who are eligible plenty of time to make their purchases. But early July has come and gone, and we’re yet to hear anything about this year’s campaign — leading some to believe Apple may have dropped it.
According to French blog Consomac.fr, however, Ahrendts distributed a video among Apple employees last week that promised more information was on the way.
“I’m sure many of you are thinking also ‘but is there anything else for Back to School’?” Ahrendts said. Well, I need you to wait until next week’s video and I’ll share a little bit more insight with you then.”
While this doesn’t explicitly confirm the Back to School promotion will happen this year, the report notes that Ahrednts’ “enthusiastic tone” certainly suggests Apple has something up its sleeve. That doesn’t mean we’ll find out about it the same time Apple’s retail staff do, however.
It could be a couple of weeks before anything is confirmed, then, but if you’re a student or a teacher and you’re planning to buy a new Apple device, you might want to hold onto your cash for a little while.
