X-Men: Apocalypse is a double entendre. Not only does the name imply the destruction of mankind, but it’s also the name of the titular antagonist, who is being played by Oscar Isaac. And while the villain looks decently powerful and terrifying, my mind is absolutely baffled by Psylocke’s costume, which to me looks more like a cheap cosplay than something you’d see in a movie. (This is what I thought of when I first saw it.)
Entertainment Weekly shared a handful of new pictures straight from the Apocalypse set, giving us a look at Storm, Havok, and some other familiar characters, including Mystique, Quicksilver and Magneto; Magneto, by the way, looks like he’s been slumming it in the streets since Days of Future Past. I guess he took his failure pretty hard.
A trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse was actually shown off during Comic-Con, but it hasn’t officially been released to a wider audience. My guess is it’ll run before Fantastic Four, which is set for a release next month.
If you happened to be in Hall H (or saw the leaked footage, which has since been deleted), it gave us a look at many of the new mutants, including Psylocke, Jean Gray, Angel and Apocalypse himself, who is said to be the first and oldest living mutant.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set for a May 27, 2016 release.
