First OS X 10.10.5 public beta released

There are plenty of options to choose from if you want to help Apple test its latest software, and you don’t need to be a developer to do so. Apple recently made its OS X 10.11 El Capitan software available for public beta testers and, on Thursday, released the first public beta of OS X 10.10.5.

El Capitan is probably the new software you’ll want to test, since it’s Apple’s latest big release, but the first OS X 10.10.5 beta will provide the closest look at the next (and possibly last) update coming to Yosemite. There’s not a whole lot included in the build, first spotted by MacRumors, so expect minor improvements to stability and performance. It’s the same release that was seeded to developers earlier this week.

The download should be available directly from the App Store under software updates now.
