The OnePlus 2 still hasn’t been officially revealed, but we already have a first review of the new phone’s camera. The company apparently agreed to send YouTuber MKBHD the upcoming device early on the condition that he didn’t reveal anything beyond the upgraded camera.
First a few new specs. MKBHD confirms that the OnePlus 2 features a 13-megapixel rear camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and laser autofocus. It’s also capable of shooting 4K video, though there’s no optical image stabilization (OIS) to be seen. Previous leaks suggested the phone could pack a dual lens camera in back, but that seems unlikely now.
Overall MKBHD called the OnePlus 2 camera “pretty solid so far.” He notes that photos are often underexposed, giving them a nice look compared to the overexposed pictures we often see. Special modes like ClearShot and HDR work nicely, and video looks pretty great too.
Unfortunately we don’t get a look at the actual OnePlus 2. However, we already know the device is at least a little bit smaller than the original OnePlus One. It’s also expected to feature metal edges and may get an overall curvier design.
OnePlus is set to unveil its new smartphone later this month on July 27. Be sure to check back soon for the latest news and leaks on the OnePlus 2, and watch the full video from MKBHD below.
