When it comes to Apple Watch apps, we’re still figuring out what works and what doesn’t, but a new update to Hulu’s iPhone app is a good example of the right approach. Hulu for the Apple Watch is pretty limited, but that’s a good thing. It’s actually very useful, making it easy to control the action on a connected TV after kicking things off on your iPhone.
Right off the bat you can see what’s playing with a quick glance. You can pause the action from that same screen. You can even rewind by 10 seconds at a time if you miss something. Another menu lets you switch closed captioning on and off.
You can also use your Apple Watch to reroute video from your iPhone to a nearby TV, as long as it’s hooked up to a Chromecast, Xbox One, PS3 or PS4. That means you can start watching an episode of your favorite show on your iPhone before switching over to the biggest screen in your house and leaving the phone behind.
Of course, the iPhone is still powering the experience, at least for now. Once Apple adds native app support, Hulu should be able to get the controls running directly on the watch. Until then, you can check out the latest update via the source link below.
