Gearbox wants to make a new Duke Nukem with outside dev help

by Joey Davidson | July 15, 2015

If at first you don’t succeed, I suppose. Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford wants the studio to work on a new Duke Nukem game with help from an external developer.

This comes from Eurogamer at Develop 2015. Pitchford said that Gearbox has worked on concepts for a game to follow Duke Nukem Forever, though the title would require the need from another studio in order to see the light of day.

It turns out Gearbox didn’t want Duke Nukem solely to release Duke Nukem Forever. Here’s Pitchford.

“I did not acquire the franchise merely so people could experience Duke Nukem Forever…That was, sort of, the toll to pay to give Duke Nukem a chance at a future.

So yes. In fact, we’ve done some concept development. The challenge is that Gearbox is very busy. A faster way would be if the correct developer would become interested and we’d work with them.”

Will this Duke Nukem game ever be made? Heck, do fans even want another title after the abysmal affair that was Duke Nukem Forever? Sure, it has its believers, but the game definitely didn’t live up to its wait or potential.

If Gearbox does find an external studio to make another Duke Nukem, will you pay attention?
