Search for a specific product on Google and you’ll see a list of sponsored links to online stores. Moving forward, however, the company wants to let you carry out an entire purchase without ever leaving your search results.
Google for Retail was announced this week. It’s focused on improving shopping both on a mobile devices and in-stores. So, for example, if you search for a specific type of camera, you’ll be able to order it right there. Search will also help answer questions like “what’s the best sunscreen?” You can even ask Google whether a specific store has a product you’re looking for before making the trip.
Google’s new feature isn’t ready just yet. The company doesn’t specify exactly when it will launch, though it does mention that Android Pay will play a role in the product. We’re guessing that means Google for Retail will be ready later this year, likely in time for back to school shopping or at least the holiday season.
