Tomorrow, July 15, Amazon will host its massive “Prime Day” sale, when it says it will offer “more deals than Black Friday’ for Amazon Prime members. More than 2,000 discounts are expected and, in an effort to wrangle a few of those customers in, Walmart said it will also hold a sale this week.
“We’ve heard some retailers are charging $100 to get access to a sale,” Walmart president and CEO Fernando Madeira said, poking fun at Amazon Prime. “But the idea of asking customers to pay extra in order to save money just doesn’t add up for us.” Madeira didn’t say what kind of items will be on sale, but he said Walmart.com will have “awesome deals this week” and will include free shipping on minimum orders of $35, down from the typical $50 requirement.
So, if you’re looking for a new TV, games or any other product that the company typically sells, you might want to try heading to Walmart.com, too.
