We’ve heard multiple reports that the Galaxy Note 5 could arrive a month early in August with the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus in tow. Now a pair of rumors claim to reveal the specific release dates for Samsung’s latest gadgets.
According to DigiTimes and its Taiwan telecom sources, Samsung will announce the new phones at an event in New York on August 12 and the devices will hit stores two days later on August 14. SamMobile backs up the same claim with its own sources. However, it argues that the device’s won’t actually launch until August 21, which seems like a more realistic timeline.
SamMobile also notes that Samsung Pay will finally launch in August too, at least in America. That means Samsung’s pushed up the release of its mobile payments service as well. There’s still no word on the company’s rumored Gear A smartwatch, though maybe that’s being saved for the IFA expo in September.
The Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus are both expected to pack 5.7-inch Quad HD displays and feature a premium design. The new Note may also offer Samsung’s latest Exynos processor and an upgraded S Pen stylus, while the curved handset could run on a Snapdragon 808 chip instead.
We’re excited to try out both of these devices, and it sounds like we won’t have to wait much longer now. Hopefully the company sends out some sort of official confirmation for this upcoming event soon.
