Apple’s upcoming TV service, which is said to bundle content from broadcast and cable networks that consumers can access for a monthly fee, is reportedly on pace to launch in “late fall.”
The New York Post said it confirmed with sources at several networks that Apple has spoken with Fox, CBS, NBC and ABC and asked each of those networks to wrangle in content from affiliates. Those deals are apparently near final. “The networks are close to having the right to negotiate with Apple on behalf of their affiliates,” the New York Post explained, noting that ESPN and Disney are among some cable partners that Apple’s also working to sign.
One remaining obstacle, it seems, is Apple’s demand to keep 30 percent of all revenues. Apparently some networks are fighting against that, though it seems to be Apple’s typical cut.
The good news? One source told the New York Post that Apple’s new service “rocks.” Sounds like we’ll hear a bit more about the new service and, hopefully, new hardware in the coming months.
