The newest trailer for Batman v Superman was released on Saturday, giving us a pretty good idea of how this all plays out. The reason Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne is so steaming mad at Superman is because of what the superhero is capable of. “He has the power to wipe out the entire human race,” he says.
Seems Bruce Wayne was at the epicenter of what happened in Man of Steel, when Superman was fighting with General Zod. Wayne was literally running around Metropolis trying to save people—there is a scene of him with a little girl in his arms, Wayne looking toward the sky with anger. (In the same shot, you can see a sign for Wayne Financial, suggesting that Bruce Wayne’s tower is nothing but a bunch of rubble now.)
Anger seems to be Wayne’s emotional state throughout the entire trailer. He’s mad, maybe afraid that he can’t control what Superman can do. But he’s going to try. There are a few shots of the two fighting, including one where Batman jumps onto the chest of Superman as they come crashing through a glass ceiling. Batman can hurt Superman, and it looks like he isn’t going to hold back.
Aflred, on the other hand, feels that Superman isn’t their enemy. All the while it appears as though Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor grows in confidence and power, slowly gathering the tools he needs (kryptonite) to take down who humanity views as a God.
We’ll have a full break down of the entire thing soon. For now, just admire what looks like will be a showdown for the ages.
