On July 1, the day that iTunes 12.2 was released, the software showed imagery of several new iPod colors. That was our first suggestion that Apple was gearing up to finally refresh its iPods in some fashion, and a new report on Friday suggests it will happen as soon as next week.
iGen.fr said Apple is planning to refresh its iPod colors on July 14, next Tuesday. It makes sense for Apple to bring the iPod back into the spotlight just a hair, at least with the recent launch of Apple Music. Otherwise, the company has made it clear it’s moving away from the devices, which no longer have a featured spot on the company’s homepage.
It remains unclear if this is simply going to be a color refresh, or if Apple plans to update products like the iPod touch with new processors, too. If this rumor is legitimate, we have just a few short days to wait.
