The Iron Giant tells the story of a boy in 1950s America who befriends an enormous but innocent robot from space (voiced by Vin Diesel). The film, which debuted in 1999, also features voice acting from Jennifer Aniston, Harry Connick Jr., and Christopher McDonald. If you haven’t seen it before, check out the trailer at the top of this post.
The movie also helped launch Bird’s career. Afterward, he worked with Pixar on The Incredibles and Ratatouille before directing Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol in 2011. The director’s work in animation may be behind him for now, but at least we can relive this classic on the big screen.
