Google Maps for iOS gets sharing options, improved transit

Google on Wednesday released a brand-new version of Google Maps for iOS devices that adds several new features that should improve the experience for users.

In addition to standard bug fixes, Google said that Google Maps 4.8.0 has improved transit directions, complete with a redesign of the information it’s presenting you, that should provide more accurate real-time arrival information and “more route choice.” Also, when you search a point of interest, you’ll now see a new gallery grid view, which alleviates any need to flip through a long gallery of photos. Finally, the app introduces the ability to share your location direct to Facebook and Facebook Messenger.

Google Maps for iOS 4.8.0 is available from the iTunes App Store now, and we’ve included a link to the update below.
