There’s so much to love about this new Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain “alternate” gameplay demonstration. Snake narrates himself, in Japanese, as he shows “alternate” ways to approach the mission we just saw at E3 2015.
I’ve always loved Snake’s Japanese voice by the way. That actor does a great job.
Anyway, the 30 minutes of gameplay shows off a few excellent mechanics you might not have seen before, like cardboard box sledding, but the climax at the end captures the true spirit of Metal Gear Solid. You remember in the first game, attaching C4 to the back of that poor mosaic soul? Let’s just say that Director Hideo Kojima has found a way to make that tangible in actual gameplay.
You’ll be on the edge of your seat waiting for that build up to pay off. Does it? Doesn’t it? I won’t spoil a thing.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on Sept. 1. The PC version will follow on Sept. 15.
