Too cold in your home? Just tell Siri to turn up the temperature. Beginning Tuesday, Apple retail stores in the U.S. will start selling the new Ecobee3, a smart thermostat that supports Apple’s HomeKit platform. That means, if you wanted, you can control the temperature of your home with only your voice. If that’s not futuristic, I don’t know what is.

In addition to bossing your thermostat around with their voices, users will also be able to remotely monitor and control the Ecobee3 from their phone; so, for example, you could boost the temperature before you get home, ensuring that you return to a warm and toasty environment.

At $249, the Ecobee3 is on the expensive side, though it’s not any more expensive than the Nest Thermostat, which is among the more popular smart home devices on the market. The point of the Ecobee3 is to monitor a home’s temperature, detect if anyone is actually home, and adjust accordingly. Ecobee says the Ecobee3 averages savings of 23-percent on heating and cooling costs.

The Ecobee3 isn’t actually new, though HomeKit support for this specific model is. Having Siri support isn’t enough of a reason to ditch your current smart home thermostat, though imagine how cool of a party trick it would be: “Hey Siri, it’s getting hot in here.”
