GoPro Hero4 Session is the company’s smallest camera ever

GoPro just unveiled its latest action camera and she’s a real beauty. The Hero4 Session features a super-compact cube design, simple controls and it’s waterproof, potentially making it the best way to capture video of your next thrill-seeking adventure.

The Session is 50 percent smaller and 40 percent lighter than the rest of GoPro’s Hero4 lineup. It also comes with an extremely flexible mount, making it easy to attach the camera pretty much anywhere you want. It’s also waterproof at up to 33 feet right out of the box.

The new GoPro features a one-button system for controlling the action. Just press the red button on top of the device to turn it on and start recording video. Hit it a second time to stop and turn off. It’s that simple, and also means longer battery life since the camera’s resting mode doesn’t use any power. You can also switch to time-lapse photo mode by holding the bottom for three seconds, or switch to single and burst photo modes using the official app.

The Hero4 Session starts at $399, which makes it a little expensive for an action cam. The company’s own Hero4 Silver offers more features for the same price, though in a less compact body. A number of other companies also offer their own cheaper options, though none can really match GoPro at the end of the day.

The new camera is set to launch next week on July 12. Until then, you can check out the video below, or head to GoPro’s site to learn more and sign up to get an alert once you can actually buy the Hero4 Session.
