Charizard confirmed for an appearance in Pokkén Tournament

It’s been a while since we last heard from Bandai Namco’s Pokkén Tournament, the Pokémon themed arcade fighting game, but its latest announcement should be outrageous enough to flip a few memory switches. Charizard, the most iconic Pokémon this side of Pikachu, has been confirmed to be a fighter in the game’s roster.

Naturally, Charizard will sport a wide variety of fire and physical attacks, and it will also be able to pull out the Mega-Evolution during battle as well. The trailer says it all.

Oh, and some Pokémon called Weavile is also going to be appearing. I can’t keep track of all the Pokémon the kids have these days, so this one escapes my memory banks. Help me out here.

Pokkén Tournament is being released in Japanese arcades on July 16. No word of a home console version or localization yet.
