Galaxy S6 sales propel Samsung back to the top in America

Samsung still hasn’t revealed any sales figures for the Galaxy S6, with conflicting reports claiming the device could be either a success or a disappointment. Now a new study suggests the company’s latest flagship phone is performing very well in the United States.

According to Kantar Worldpanel, the Galaxy S6 recently helped Samsung to retake the lead in the U.S. market. Specifically, the company grabbed 52 percent of Android sales in the country in the three month period ending in April. A month later, accounting for the period between March and the end of May, Samsung dominated 55 percent of Android sales.

Samsung needed a hit with the Galaxy S6 following lackluster sales of the Galaxy S5, and it looks like the company was able to pull it off. Kantar said Apple’s iPhone 6 is still going strong in Europe, making it more difficult for Samsung and other Android device manufacturers to win over consumers in that market. Samsung has noted, however, that global sales are meeting expectations.
