Check out the new Ghostbusters proton pack and jumpsuit

by Brandon Russell | June 30, 2015

We’ve seen some famous uniforms and props hit the big screen throughout the years. Darth Vader, the Lightsaber, Indiana Jones and his whip, and many, many more. It’s why the world of cosplay exists. So you’ll forgive me if I get a little overexcited at seeing the suits and proton pack from the upcoming Ghostbusters movie.

Now that filming for the all-female Ghostbusters is underway, director Paul Feig is inviting fans to get a behind-the-scenes look (of sorts) at what’s happening on set. While we’ve already seen pictures of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon filming early scenes, we’re now getting our first look at some of the movie’s props. Ghostbusters fans, it’s time to start getting excited.

The suits, as you can see, look a bit different from the famous onesies donned by the original crew. There are stripes across the front and arms, while there are cargo pockets on the legs. The same idea is there, mostly, but these new jumpsuits look a little more modern, though the classic look is still intact. In addition to the slightly different jumpsuit design, you can also see some goggles and calf-high boots.

The proton pack, meanwhile, looks quite different from the original; it looks more steampunk and rugged. It also looks much smaller than the OG pack; compactness matters for something like this! I wonder when we’ll get a look at the ghost trap.

It’s always fun when directors use social media to give fans a look at what’s happening on set. As of now, Ghostbusters is set for a July 22, 2016 release, with Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones starring.

For reference, I’ve also included pictures of the original proton pack and jumpsuits.
