Could Take 2 Interactive be up to publishing a brand new Mafia game? It’s been nearly five years since 2K Czech developed and released Mafia II, a problematic, though enjoyable, open world effort.
Now we have 2K Games parent company Take 2 registering a slew of domains connected to the currently unannounced Mafia III. NeoGAF user ekim has the screenshot you see below.
That’s four domains registered on June 25 by Take 2. All of them include some variation of Mafia 3, Mafia Three or Mafia III. The immediate assumption is that the publisher is gearing up for a Gamescom announcement. That show starts during the second week of August in Cologne, Germany.
As mixed as the critical and commercial reaction was to Mafia II, I count myself among its fans. I really enjoyed the game for its time jumping story and paced world building. It was fun, and it offered a nice, if not small, collection of characters.
I’d love to see a Mafia III, so here’s hoping this registration pans out.
