Motorola has begun rolling out Android 5.1 Lollipop to the original Moto G with 4G. The update brings a long list of improvements and new features, including more control over notifications and priorities, welcome changes to the Quick Settings menu, and guest user mode.
Motorola has already made Android 5.1 available to a number of its more recent devices, including the flagship Moto X. The company describes the update as “one of the most significant in recent Android history,” and it could well be the last major release the original Moto G receives.
The massive list of changes Android 5.1 brings can be found on Motorola’s update page via the source link below, but here are some of the highlights:
- Lock screen notifications
- Priority notifications
- Ability to block interruptions until next alarm
- Scheduled downtimes
- Ability to adjust notification volume while media is playing
- Ambient Display
- Ability to switch Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections from Quick Settings
- Guest user mode
- Smart Lock
On top of all this, Android 5.1 promises increased performance and better battery life.
Android 5.1 will be rolling out to the original Moto G with 4G in stages, so don’t be too concerned if you haven’t seen it yet. To be sure you get it as quickly as possible, open up the Settings app on your device, select “About phone” and then “System updates,” then check the “Yes, I’m in” option.
