Spotify for Android Wear rolling out

by Todd Haselton | June 25, 2015June 25, 2015 9:20 am PDT

During Google I/O 2015, Google promised that Spotify was going to launch an app that supports Android Wear. We have good news: that day has arrived, and you can now download the latest version of Spotify for Android, which includes support for Android Wear smartwatches.

There are some caveats, however. 9to5Google, which first noticed the availability, said that Spotify doesn’t exist on the watch as a standalone app and, instead, you need to have it open on your phone first. Once it’s open, you’ll have the ability to control your music with the standard play/pause/skip controls and the option to browse through your collection by album or artist. It doesn’t seem as full featured as Google Play Music, but it’s better than nothing.

The update is reportedly rolling out now, so you might not see it immediately.
