Apple begins rolling out iOS 9 beta 2

by Brandon Russell | June 23, 2015

It’s been two weeks since Apple officially unveiled iOS 9, and, just in time, the company has rolled out a new beta. With the release of iOS 9 beta 2, Apple is one step closer to finalizing its next big update, which introduces a lot of new features, including smarter Siri, and some amazing new abilities specific to the iPad. We got our hands on the first beta earlier this month—videos are at the foot of this post.

It’s unclear what’s new in iOS 9 beta 2, though you can bet there will be the usual helping of bug fixes and enhancements. For how stable the first beta has been, battery life has been pretty atrocious, at least on the devices we’ve been using here in the office.

When the final software does become available for free later this year, it’ll offer a News app, improvements to Notes, public transit for Maps, iPad enhancements, and a smarter Siri, including a new proactive feature that’s set to compete with google Now.

If we find any big new features included in iOS 9 beta 2, we’ll be sure to let you know.
