Sony announces a lighter and less power-hungry 1TB PlayStation 4

by Ron Duwell | June 22, 2015June 22, 2015 6:00 am PDT

I guess it didn’t want this announcement to get lost in the hubbub of E3, but it feels more like a video game hangover to me. We already suspected this was coming, but it is now official. Sony will soon distribute a new model of PlayStation 4 that can store up to 1TB of memory in its internal HDD.

This new model is also lighter in your hands and on your energy bill. The description reads it will use up 8 percent less energy and weight only 2.5kg, a full 10 percent lighter than the current model. It will be available in both black and white.

No release date for North America yet, I suspect it will be known before the day is out, but the European launch date will be next month on July 15.
