Bandai Namco has finally delivered some solid release data for its incoming JRPG, Tales of Zestiria. The latest in the popular franchise will hitting North American shelves on Oct. 20 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and another exciting twist!
Tales of Zestiria has been confirmed to be the franchise’s debut on PC! Bandai Namco’s new PC focus has secured the future of its series beyond the limited lifespan of the consoles, hopefully making backwards compatibility a thing of the past and its library secure for many years to come. Bandai Namco claims that Steam will be available exclusively for Western audiences.
Sorry Japan. No convenience for you! However, in another shocking twist, I am not region locked out from the Steam page! Bandai Namco isn’t as brutal as SEGA or Square Enix in that regard.
“The Tales of series continues to connect with RPG fans searching for a pure Japanese role-playing experience.”
“With the high adoption rate of the current generation of consoles and continued popularity of the PC platform, we are more than excited to be able to port Tales of Zestiria to the PlayStation 4 system and Steam exclusively for Western fans across the Americas and Europe. Players will now be able to choose which platform they want to experience the Tales of Zestiria adventure on!”
Now that Tales is making the migration to the PC, I wonder what game Bandai Namco will be porting next. The Tales of Symphonia Chronicles bundle seems like it would be a good bet, but I would really like to see the first two or three games made available cheaply. Tales of Phantasia, Tales of Destiny, and Tales of Eternia (Tales of Destiny II in the U.S.) are just stupidly difficult to track down, whether they have never been fully released in English or had limited runs on the PlayStation.
Steam fixes that right there!
But, Tales of Zestiria has to be a hit first before Bandai Namco sees the value in doing this. You can help make it a hit by snagging up Tales of Zestiria on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, or PC on Oct. 20.
