Cameo is one of the best ways to edit video on the go

More and more, the phone in your pocket is becoming a viable way to edit video. And Vimeo’s Cameo app is staking its claim as the go-to option.

Cameo has been around for a while now, but it received an update this week that makes it one of the more powerful mobile editors out there. If something like Apple’s iMovie isn’t your speed, Cameo might be something to seriously consider.

Cameo is now incredibly simple to use. Before, Cameo was kind of a jack of all trades and a master of none, trying to do too much without a clear focus. But it has been cleaned up to make video editing a priority, and it’s one of the more enjoyable experiences out there.

With Cameo, users can easily edit clips, apply themes, and choose from a number of audio tracks from a “carefully curated music catalog.” It’s that easy.

Vimeo has included a ton of examples of what kind of results you can get out of Cameo, and they’re pretty good. I have a lot of videos just sitting in my phone, so I’m looking forward to seeing what I can get out of this app, which, by the way, is free.

Right now, Cameo is available exclusively for iOS. I’ve included an example of what Cameo can do at the foot of this post.
