Yup, we all saw this one coming, didn’t we? Not even half a day has passed since Sony announced Shenmue 3 during its E3 2015 presentation, and the oft-requested sequel has already secured the $2 million in Kickstarter funding that it was looking for.
The sky is now the limit as stretch goals start to make this game a reality. 31 days and sitting at a comfortable $2,375,082? I like its odds of shooting the moon for whatever lays ahead of it. Most of the early ones are just translations into other languages, but we’ll get into the juicier options once the bigger bucks start pouring in. $3.5 million adds skill trees to Ryu’s movesets.
Man, I really hope one of the stretch goals is a “Dreamcast Voice Acting” track, which records the voices in the original and infamously awful style. I wonder how much that would cost Suzuki to do.
Shenmue 3 will be released for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
