Gear VR now lets you take virtual tours of colleges, restaurants

You can use the Samsung Gear VR for dozens of things including browsing photos, playing games, watching movies, viewing the NBA Slam Dunk contest from courtside and more. Now, as of Tuesday, you can also use the virtual reality headset to explore restaurants and college campuses.

Two new apps, including YouVisit Colleges and YouVisit Restaurants, are now available for Gear VR owners. Don the headset to explore the campuses of elite universities such as Yale or Harvard, or explore far away campuses in places like North-West University in South Africa. More than a thousand campuses are available, offering a new chance to check out a location before committing to your school.

YouVisit Restaurants is similar, though allows you to step into one of hundreds of New York City’s restaurants, allowing you to enter and explore Delmonico’s, Galli, Tavern on the Green and more. You’ll always have the beat seat in the house, even if you’re really just at home digging into a bowl of Cheetos on the couch.

You’ll need a Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge paired with a Gear VR headset to take advantage of the experiences, and you should find them available now.
