Microsoft announces ReCore, Xbox One exclusive from Comcept and Keiji Inafune

Mega Man co-creator Keiji Inafune and his indie team at Comcept have teamed up with Armature, Xbox One, and Microsoft to develop a brand new franchise called ReCore. The shocking new title popped up second in Microsoft’s E3 press conference line-up, addressing at least my concerns of Microsoft’s focus on big Western titles.

The debut trailer itself its a mixed bag, starting off like Halo 5’s debut trailer as a character crosses the desert. However, as it plays itself, it tosses aside the generic sci-fi shooter look and genuinely¬†adopts the classic art style found in Keiji Inafune’s beloved classics. ReCore evolves from Chappy into Castle in the Sky right before our eyes.

Well played, Microsoft. Well played. You’ve got a title worthy of my attention this year, and I might consider snagging up an Xbox One to get it. Put this right up there with Scalebound from a fan of Japanese games.

ReCore will be released in 2016 for the Xbox One.
