There is a lot of speculation going on about what Platinum Games has in store for us at E3. We know that a new game will be announced, probably alongside new information regarding the Xbox One exclusive Scalebound, but exactly what the title is, nobody knows… except for Platinum Games itself, of course.
Could it be hinting at the reveal with this Twitter post from overnight?

Vanquish was a third-person shooter released by Platinum Games and SEGA back in 2010. It did pretty poorly on a financial front, but it was a critical hit and has since become a cult favorite over the years. The game featured a “Boost” mechanic which allowed for quick transportation throughout a level and some of the most intense firefights you’ll ever find in a third-person shooter.
In other words, it’s a sick game and a real gem for those who haven’t played it yet. I can think of few games from the last several years more deserving of a sequel than this. Maybe Platinum is blowing smoke up our tailpipes or maybe this screenshot is much ado about nothing, but hey! I can dream, can’t I?
I know Joey is pulling for a completely original game, but I’m going to throw my support in this corner. The original’s director, Shinji Mikami, is no longer at Platinum Games, but the studio is oozing with more than enough talent to make up for his loss. Bayonetta 2 wasn’t directed by the original’s director, Hideki Kamiya, you know.
Platinum Games definitely has someone somewhere in its ranks that can step up and fill in the big shoes.
