Following a leak from last week, XSEED has confirmed that it will be localizing the next game in the popular Legend of Heroes franchise this coming fall in both North America and Europe. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel will be released for both the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.
Taking place on the same continent as fan-favorite Trails in the Sky, Trails of Cold Steel is the first game in the series to tread Erebonian soil and explore the inner political conflicts of this oft-mentioned powerhouse in detail.
With a standalone story that also delves into the expansive lore that has become synonymous with the series, players take on the role of military students at a time of great turmoil, enjoying school life and bonding with fellow students to earn new abilities in battle, then utilizing those abilities via speedy, tactical turn-based combat with the newly-developed “ARCUS” system.
In addition to localizing and publishing this title, XSEED also confirmed that it would be publishing its direct sequel, Trails of Cold Steel II, some time in the future. This brings the total number of games from this franchise that XSEED is currently working on to “four,” including the second and third chapter of the PSP and PC fan-favorite, Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky.
Expect more solid details from XSEED at E3 next week.
