A couple days ago, it leaked out that Electronic Arts had registered a trademark for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. Not wasting any time, EA and DICE have officially revealed the game.
Catalyst‘s Senior Producer Sara Jansson revealed in a statement on the game’s official site that we’ll be seeing the game at E3 next week.
Talking about the original, Jansson wrote that the game “had a lot of promise” and that they “knew it could be more.” The team, she explained, has examined every aspect of the game and that it isn’t a sequel to the original, and as such they’ve decided not to call it Mirror’s Edge 2.
“We have landed on a vision that honors the first game — pushing the boundaries of first person movement and diving deeper into the story behind our heroine Faith — but also brings a lot of great new, interesting gameplay and features to the experience for our players.”
We’re looking forward to seeing more next week at E3 before the game’s eventual release in early 2016.
