Dead or Alive creator Tomonobu Itagaki’s Wii U action game Devil’s Third finally has a release date in two regions after going MIA for a year or so. Japanese fans will be able to pick up the release on Aug. 4, and those in the European region will have a chance at it on Aug. 28.

Judging by how these announcements have rolled out along with the time zones, my guess is that Americans might have some release information before the end of the day.
Devil’s Third is a rough and very Japanese action game which combines both ranged gunplay and acrobatic melee attacks. Along with the release dates, Itagaki has provided a ten minute feature in which he talks up the development of his game, sporting his iconic shades in the dark, and finally shows off a few more minutes of gameplay.
Devil’s Third is a solid looking game, but my instincts tell me it won’t be for everybody. Only those with a deep love of raw Japanese action might get the most out of it. The game appears exclusively on the Wii U because Nintendo snagged up the rights in the THQ bankruptcy auction a few years back. It was originally intended to be on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Nintendo is sure to reveal more at E3 next week, so stay tuned for more information.
