Forza Motorsport 6 Japanese leak doubles cars, adds weather

Forza Motorsport 6 is set to come out this fall. Until some information slipped out via a leak on Microsoft’s Japanese site, howver, very little was known aside from the cover car: the new Ford GT. AllGamesBeta managed to capture a screenshot of the leak, included below, before it was taken down.

What we’ve learned from the leak should address the dissatisfaction many fans expressed with the first outing the series had on the Xbox in 2013.

From a strictly numbers perspective, the at-launch car count has more than doubled from about 200 cars to over 450, and those cars are fully modeled with working cockpits and full damage. We can look forward to 26 real-world tracks, including brand new locations like Daytona and Rio, as well. That’s on top of any fictional tracks like the Bernese Alps and Prague tracks seen in Forza Motorsport 5. Both of these will give this year’s entry some much-needed variety.

Multiplayer races are jumping from 16 up to 24, so there will be 23 jerks crashing into you instead of 15 when you’re just trying to take a corner carefully. Split-screen play and drivatars are both back was well.

Perhaps the biggest change, though, is that we can look forward to night driving and inclement weather. “Wet weather, 3D puddles, and night racing test your driving skills,” the page says. The note about 3D puddles is going to get a lot of snark, but anyone who has hydroplaned a car at legal speeds can tell you how boring puddles are when you’re in a car. Weather and night racing are two features Forza fans have been requesting for years.

The page is riddled with typos, one of which is that the game will run at “50 frames per second.” The game is still expected to run at the smooth 60 frames per second the original did. Unless that’s changed, you can expect to hear that number mentioned at least three times during whatever time Microsoft spends on Forza during its E3 presentation next week.
