Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night continues to tear up Kickstarter with just days remaining, and its campaign has just crossed another important milestone. In securing $3.5 million, Director Koji Igarashi has promised to bring the game to the PS Vita with the aid of a studio called Armature.
The game will be released both physically and digitally.
Once again, the Bloodstained backers have not failed us. We have hit the PS Vita stretch goal! Here are our thoughts on inclusions into the PS Vita version:
- Music Export – We thought it would be awesome to be able to export the game’s music to the Vita’s music library. So we’re going to do that.
- PS4 Cross Save Support – Obviously, we’ll need to work with the PS4 dev team on this, but we’ve done cross save before and we’d love to do it again.
- Touch Screen Support – Remember how we mentioned drawing on the map on the WiiU version? Why not do that for Vita too? And scrub around the map with your finger as well.
- PlayStation TV – We’ll also make sure that the game is fully playable on the PS TV.
We are truly honored to be part of this project, and to work with the other development teams to help bring another one of Igarashi-san’s masterpieces to a handheld.
The PS Vita version will definitely be the one I pick up somewhere down the line. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is the kind of game I would love to play on the go, and PS TV support makes it that much easier to just throw on any television set as well.
However, the party has not wrapped itself up just yet! The final 48 hours of every Kickstarter campaign are always the busiest, and the campaign has unveiled a whole slew of stretch goals that it has planned for the last stretch. These include prequel games, which sound like 8-bit inspired mini-releases similar to Inti Create’s previous game, Mighty Guvolt.
ONLINE CHALLENGE MODE: Compete and cooperate with a friend to earn points in specially designed stages by clearing challenges, killing enemies, collecting items, and more. Rumor has it there there may even be incredibly powerful bosses which drop rare crafting materials…
3RD PLAYABLE CHARACTER: IGA and Inti Creates will include a third playable character in Bloodstained! They don’t want to give away too much—it might even be a character you haven’t met yet.
PREQUEL MINI-GAME FOR CONSOLES: Inti Creates is so excited about Bloodstained that they’re hoping to create a 2D, pixel-based, retro-styled mini-game that sheds some light on the world of Bloodstained before Miriam awoke from her coma. This is a complete game which will be sold separately, but every $28+ backer copy of Bloodstained will come with a FREE download of this game on PS4, XB1, Wii U, or PC! (Backers at Physical+Digital tiers will be eligible for 2 copies of the mini-game.)
PREQUEL MINI-GAME FOR PORTABLES: At $4.75 million Inti will port their side story game to the PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS. Backers $28 and up will be able to choose any platform for their free copy (or copies)!
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is $600,000 away from being the most successful video game campaign in Kickstarter history. Anybody think it can hit that mark before this all wraps up? Looking at the rate that the money is still flowing in and seeing how the final stretch is guaranteed to bring in quite a few dollars, I believe it can!
It will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, Linux, Wii U, and PS Vita,
