Sony’s SmartBand 2 made its unexpected debut this week. The device was outed by its companion app, which appeared in Google’s Play Store briefly on Thursday before it was deleted.
The leak, which was quickly spotted by Xperia Blog, includes a handful of app screenshots and even a render of the wearable device. Officially listed as the SmartBand 2 SWR12, Sony’s new fitness tracker adds a pulse and heart rate monitor. It works with the company’s Lifelog app, just like it’s predecessor. It also includes an alarm clock feature and vibrates for notifications.
There’s no word on when the SmartBand 2 will actually launch or how much it will cost, though we’re guessing it could hit stores in the very near future. As for the price, the original Sony SmartBand debuted at $99. Hopefully Sony can avoid raising the cost despite the device’s new biometric sensors.
